INTRODUCING: DRUM SAMPLE CO.
When producing or mixing a song, there comes a time when we consider the use of drum samples. Maybe it's early in the process, maybe it's during the mix. But the fact remains: it's often a letdown. Why? Because they don't sound realistic or natural. They sound outdated and overprocessed. They're not dynamic enough. They don't blend well when sample-replacing. Or perhaps, they just sound bad.
Too many times we've been told "no" when it comes to drum samples. Can I choose a different microphone setup with this particular kick sample? No. What about the same drumkit recorded in a different tracking room? No. Can I get an unprocessed version of this snare, as well as a processed/mixed version? No. Can I have multiple tunings of the same snare sample? No. Can I get these samples in high resolution, 96kHz or higher? No. Can I get samples that I'll actually use every day rather than a pack that's half full of garbage? No!
It's time we stopped taking "no" for an answer. It's time we made samples for the discerning engineer and producer.
